Access to ChemDraw
Updated Jan 2025: Signals ChemDraw has transitioned to a new user-based licensing model. If you had access to ChemDraw before Feb 5, 2025, you will need to contact Mann IT to request a new license. Overview Faculty, staff, and students of USC Mann may request access to ChemDraw, a tool for visualizing chemical structures. This includes access to ChemDraw Collections, the rebranded version of ChemOffice+. A note about ChemDraw in the browser If you access ChemDraw using the browser (either Signals Notebook Individual Edition or ChemDraw Cloud), be aware that the vendor is discontinuing this product. Per the vendor, "all data in Signals Notebook Individual Edition will be destroyed after the product reaches End of Life, and will not be recoverable." To avoid losing your data, you will need to migrate or export all your data before Feb 5, 2025: Migrating or exporting your data from ChemDraw in the browser Requesting Access To request access to ChemDraw, please place a request with USC Mann IT: Request access to Signals ChemDraw Existing Users: Deactivate and Uninstall ChemDraw Note: Do not deactivate and uninstall ChemDraw until you receive a "Welcome to Signals" email granting you access to the new ChemDraw portal at https://usc-site.signalsresearch2.revvitycloud.com/. Migrating / Exporting Data from ChemDraw Browser Version
Overview If you use ChemDraw in the browser, be aware that ChemDraw Cloud and Signals Notebook Individual Edition are being retired, and USC's license expires on Feb 5, 2025. Once these products are retired, your account and data will be permanently deleted. You must take action before Feb 5, 2025 if you want to migrate your data to the replacement product, Signals Notebook Standard, or export it to PDF files. Who is affected You are impacted if you access ChemDraw through your browser using any of the following links: https://signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ https://chemdraweln.signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ https://chemdraw.signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ You will not be impacted if you only use ChemDraw in the installable desktop application. Migrating your data to Signals Notebook Standard You can migrate your data from Signals Notebook Individual Edition or ChemDraw Cloud to Signals Notebook Standard. Be aware of these caveats: Only notebooks can be exported. If you have standalone experiments, you must move them into a notebook in order to export them. Experiment hyperlinks, user comments, and audit trail information (including the change history and original review status) cannot be exported. Exported notebooks can contain up to 100 experiments. If a notebook has more than 100 experiments, you will need to split it up to export it. Step 1: Prepare and export your data from Signals Notebook Individual Edition Log into Signals Notebook Individual Edition. Depending on which version you use, you may need to log in at one of these links: Signals: https://signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ Signals Notebook Individual Edition: https://chemdraweln.signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ ChemDraw Cloud: https://chemdraw.signalsresearch.revvitycloud.com/ To export each notebook: Open the notebook. In the upper right, click the 'Actions' menu (three dots) and select 'Export to File'. Click 'Export to File'. The notebook downloads to your computer as a .snb notebook file. Step 2: Import your data in Signals Notebook Standard Go to https://usc-site.signalsresearch2.revvitycloud.com/ If you are prompted to sign in: The Shibboleth page appears. Sign in using your USC NetID and passphrase. When the DUO authentication page appears, complete the verification. Select Signals. In the upper right, click your username and select 'Import Notebook from File'. Upload the .snb notebook file. Fill in the fields, and click 'Import'. (Optional) To continue importing data, click 'Import New Notebook'. Exporting your data as PDFs You can also export your data in PDF format, with the following limitations: Only notebooks can be exported. If you have standalone experiments, you must move them into a notebook in order to export them. The PDF files cannot be imported to or edited in Signals Notebook Standard, but as PDF files they can retain comments, original review status, and change history. Avoid having too many experiments in each notebook: if your experiments are too large, the export may fail. To export to PDF: Log into Signals Notebook Individual Edition. In the upper right, click the Actions menu (three dots) and select 'Export to Zip'. Select the properties you want to export (for instance, comments or history), and click 'Export to ZIP'. The notebook downloads to your computer as a folder of PDF files. Thank you to USC Dornsife for the use of their Signals ChemDraw documentation.
