Classroom Lecture Capture
Overview
USC Mann uses Panopto for the purposes of capturing all PharmD lectures, and other classes or events by special request. We have a multiple rooms equipped with capture capability throughout the PSC and CHP buildings.
Classroom Capture
PharmD captures taking place in the lecture halls 108 and 112 are captured by student operators and uploaded to the appropriate class catalog.
At the beginning of each semester, course coordinators must add the Panopto tool to their courses in Brightspace in order for captures to be viewable. If you are faculty needing assistance with adding the tool to Brightspace, please contact the Mann IT service desk.
If you are having problems with the playback of captured lectures, please check the minimum requirements for viewing. If problems persist, please contact the Mann IT service desk for further assistance.
NOTE: We only support streaming on desktop/laptop systems via Brightspace. Mobile devices, including iPads, are not supported for playback at this time.
Pre-recording Content
Content for courses can also be pre-recorded using Panopto. A convenient browser-based version of the capture software is available for faculty and instructors to use on their own devices. These recordings can then be easily linked to your Brightspace course for access by your students.
Event Capture
Mann IT is able to arrange and assist with the capture of special events (seminars or town hall meetings) that take place within capture-enabled classrooms. Please complete our Panopto Capture Request form at least two weeks before your event to make the appropriate arrangements. We’ll need to know:
- Location
- Date and Time
- Duration
- Nature of the event, including any A/V arrangements
- Brightspace Class or Organization where the capture will go
Retention Policy
Lecture captures are stored online for a period of two years. If you have a recording that you need maintained online for longer, please contact Mann IT to discuss your requirements further.
